Comfortable Dentures in Columbia, IL

An older woman smiles outdoors | Workman Family DentalAdvances in medicine now help people live longer than ever. That’s great news, but what does it mean for your oral health?

Your teeth are designed to withstand a lot of daily wear and tear. With good oral hygiene and regular dental visits, you can expect your teeth to last a long time. But as you age, there will be a point when, even with diligent dental care, your teeth start to wear and break down.

Comfortable, Natural-Looking Dentures

At Workman Family Dental, we offer state-of-the-art solutions to replace missing teeth, restore function, and improve your appearance.

Full and partial dentures have long been the go-to treatment for missing teeth because they work well for almost everyone. Today, using improved techniques and materials, we can create dentures for you that are more comfortable and attractive than you ever thought dentures could be!

We offer three types of dentures at our Columbia, IL dental office:

  • Full dentures are used when all teeth in an arch are missing.
  • We use a partial denture to fit in with existing teeth to complete your smile.
  • Implant-supported dentures offer the ultimate in comfort and stability.

Dentures That Improve Your Appearance

Older Couple Smiling | Workman Family DentalThe main purpose of dentures is to restore function so you can eat, speak, and chew comfortably again. But many people don’t like the idea of dentures because they have a reputation for looking artificial and obvious.

You’ll be happy to know that dentures today can be completely customized to complement your facial structure and skin and hair color. Dr. Workman will take all the time necessary to understand what your expectations are to ensure that you are thrilled with the final result.

We will provide highly skilled technicians with specifications to customize the shade, shape, and positioning of the artificial teeth in your denture. Your dentures will look great and feel comfortable because they are made specifically to fit the shape of your jaw line and gums.

You can be confident that your new dentures will look and feel as close to natural teeth as possible.

Implant-Supported Dentures

If you would like a more permanent solution than removable dentures, we suggest that you consider implant-supported dentures.

Dr. Workman will place dental implants at certain points along your jaw. Your customized dentures are then designed with attachments that snap onto the implants. The result is a denture that fits perfectly and stays in place when you laugh, eat, and speak.

Comprehensive Dentures Services

We are also pleased to offer services needed to maintain your dentures. Breaking a denture is a nuisance because you have to face the prospect of going without your teeth. But we’ve got you covered! If you ever break a denture, bring it in to us first thing in the morning, and we’ll do our best to get it repaired the same day.

After wearing your dentures for a time, you may find they don’t quite fit as comfortably as they did when new. No problem! We offer denture relines that update the fit of your denture so it conforms closely to the shape of your jaw.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you are considering dentures, you should know that a lot has changed in recent years! Gone are the days of fake-looking artificial teeth that look like they belong to someone else. Modern dentures are individually customized to complement your appearance resulting in replacement teeth that look as close to natural teeth as possible.

There are three types of dentures available:

  • Full dentures in Columbia, IL are the right option for you if all your teeth are missing in your upper arch, lower arch, or both. Artificial teeth are customized and positioned in a gum-colored base which is held in place by suction.
  • Partial dentures are a good choice if you have one or more teeth missing because they’re customized to fit in and around existing teeth. Partials may be set on an acrylic base or held in place with clasps attached to remaining teeth.
  • Implant-supported dentures combine the best of removable full and partials with advanced dental implant technology. We place one or more dental implants in your jaw and design dentures with attachments that snap onto the implants. Implant dentures look, feel, and function most like natural teeth and eliminate the shifting that is so common with removable dentures.

Schedule Your Dentures Consultation

Now that you know a little bit about the types of dentures we offer, your next step is to call us to arrange a consultation. We look forward to helping you achieve your smile goals!

A partial denture works a little bit like a jigsaw puzzle. If you have one or a few missing teeth, the partial is designed to fit in and around remaining teeth to restore your appearance and lost function.

If you don’t replace a missing tooth with a dental prosthetic like an implant, bridge, or partial denture, you put your oral health at risk and jeopardize the integrity and position of remaining teeth. At Workman Family Dental, we design partial dentures that look natural and function comfortably. You will be able to eat more nutritious foods and smile without embarrassment because no one ever needs to know those are not your natural teeth.
