If you are a patient of Workman Family Dental, we want you to feel comfortable bringing your entire family to our office for treatment. One of our specialties is in children’s dentistry, and we love teaching our very youngest patients about the inner-workings of a dental office.
We offer an array of services to our Columbia, IL patients of all ages, and we tailor those services specifically for kids’ dentistry when working with children. We understand the important role baby teeth play in your child’s dentition and the eventual development of their permanent teeth, so our team works hard to do everything we can to help preserve and protect your child’s baby teeth.
Some of the treatments we most commonly offer to our pediatric patients are fluoride treatments, dental sealants, routine exams, x-rays, and fillings. To learn more about some of these treatments, read below:
Sealants are a dental treatment that is applied to the grooves of teeth, particularly back molars, to help protect the teeth from cavities. While sealants can be used on both primary and permanent teeth, the treatment is more commonly used on children who are still developing good brushing and flossing habits. Dental sealants are a fast, easy and typically inexpensive way to help protect your child’s smile
X-Rays to Find Decay
Although children with healthy mouths typically do not have dental x-rays taken as often as adults, we still recommend obtaining basic dental imaging from your child every 12 to 24 months as a preventative measure. If your child is unsure about having x-rays taken, we encourage parents to be nearby to talk to and encourage the child during the procedure
Fillings to Protect Teeth
You may feel tempted to ignore a small cavity in a baby tooth because the tooth will fall out anyway, but maintaining the strength of your child’s baby teeth plays a vital role in protecting the way your child’s permanent teeth will eventually emerge. We offer basic dental fillings to help protect our pediatric dentistry patients in Columbia, IL
As soon as your child has received their first baby tooth, they can be seen by our dental office! Call us today at (618) 281-7178 to schedule a children’s dentistry appointment.
